Completing Framing and Applying Plywood 

Plywood skin complete. Adding poor man’s fiberglass.

Preparing to load on the truck

Loaded. There is still finish work to do on the inside, but it is functional now. It weighs about 900 lbs.

 

Framing Completed

Now that the frame is completed I have been applying the exterior plywood which is glued to foamboard insulation. This gives the structure great strength. 

 

Superstructure

Continuing with construction of the walls of the superstructure.

The tub has been flipped upright. Construction on the superstructure begins.

 Bottom Finished

Poor man’s fiberglass and paint applied to bottom of tub and wings. It’s now time to flip it upright so construction can continue.

 Applying Poor Man’s Fiberglass

The application consists of using Titebond II glue to apply Landscape fabric. Several more layers of glue are applied sanding between each application. Then several layers of exterior latex paint are applied, again sanding between each layer. The photo shows the process after the initial application of the fabric plus one additional layer of glue. 

Adding Wings

Framing for the wings or the extensions which protrude over the sides of the truck bed.
